| Le Petit Festival du Théâtre aims to unite various cultures and beliefs through the arts. The Festival is a unique and distinctive cultural event that introduces talented artists from the fields of theater, music, modern and classic dance, haute couture, visual arts, liberal arts, holistic medicine and more to an international audience from all walks of life. |

Previous years of Le Petit Festival du Théâtre, in Dubrovnik, showcased artists from Croatia, France, Finland, Germany, Holland, Turkey, Serbia, USA, Slovenia, Switzerland, Sweden, Japan and other worldwide places.
The 2011 Festival theme is “European Women's Rights Today”. The organizers want to collaborate with local and international artists and individuals who support human rights and express such by way of their talent to create a platform for discussion that inspires people to volunteer for women's rights.
January 2011, the United Nations launched UN Women, a UN organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. This organization advances UN actions to achieve gender equality, tendering the promise of hastening the progress of realizing the rights of women worldwide. March 8, 2011, International Women's Day 2011 honors 100 years of International Women's Day! March 8 of every year around the world celebrates International Women's Day (IWD). Hundreds of events throughout March mark the economic, political and social achievements of women.
The many women involved with Le Petit Festival du Théâtre that volunteer and the European Year of Volunteering 2011 focus motivated our choice of European Women's Rights Today for our 2011 Festival theme. This year our purpose is to incite more women to join the movement to spread worldwide awareness of the needs of women and girls. This year the Festival features speakers and representatives of Women's Rights organizations. By way of this year's event, our organization looks forward to learning and acquiring the skills needed to produce greater numbers of volunteer participants.
We will continue throughout with free performances for elderly people at Domus Christi Hospital, the Children’s hospital of Dubrovnik and the Maslina orphanage. We endeavor to encourage artists and volunteers to stay involved.
Dubrovnik is the oldest port of Europe where trade between Europe and the East began and subsequently flourished. A very special world locale, Dubrovnik is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. More than ever, we need to come together as the inhabitants of Planet Earth to learn how we can better cooperate to spread awareness, tolerance, unity, beauty and affirmative actions in the world through art and culture. Having survived a recent war, Dubrovnik is truly the perfect venue.
Le Petit Festival du Théâtre was created to illuminate the role that the arts play in the support of human relations and citizenship in Europe and globally. We aspire to organize future events throughout Europe in collaboration with other non-governmental and civil society organizations.
The European Year of Volunteering 2011 unites us not only for women's rights but also for all others who are in need. |
